Counseling Approach

HELPING HANDS
Reaching out to others
!

For He shall deliver the needy when he crieth; the poor also, and him that hath no helper. He shall spare the poor and needy, and shall save the souls of the needy. He shall redeem their soul from deceit and violence: and precious shall their blood be in His sight.
Psalm 72:12-14

Some have come to me with overwhelming problems, that I didn't know on which end to start. When the Lord spoke very clearly to me, saying: "Throw overboard all that your eyes see, don't be impressed by the magnitude of the "problems" involved, for they are not the real PROBLEM, but the result of sin. Don't waste time trying to figure out where these problems come from, rather direct your help to restore the individual."

Followers of Jesus Christ should be His witness, which includes helping others to overcome sin, sinful lifestyles and satan. Many believers feel inadequate and therefore are paralysed to help at all. One does not need to be a professional in order to help a fellow believer, or bring a sinner to Christ. Just make sure you are spiritually equipped; living holy before His face, when you start dealing with problems of others.

Jesus never went into much detail about sin issues, for He knew the origin and author. It is not important how sexual deviation, alcoholism, child abuse, violence, anger, emotional problems etc. did develop and came about, but more as for how to get rid of it and to be delivered from. The danger is of spending too much time and effort on that which must be conquered, than on HOW to conquer it. Use Jesus' walk as an example. He never tried to figure out why the woman at the well had all these husbands in her life. He just offered her the " living water".

Neither did He question the prostitute about her childhood problems, but He said: "Thy sins are forgiven, thy faith has saved thee; go in peace." Luke 7:48,50.

Just keep in mind while dealing with people with needs, that satan does not want to reveal himself and that he tries to make the problems very complicated, so you wouldn't know where and how to start helping. Separate satan's tricks from the needs of the individual you're trying to help.

Satan also tries to bring confusion and he is fast to tell you NOT to judge. We know, he is a liar and robber from the beginning and he doesn't want to give up his captives. Can you see the picture? We are wrestling against powers of darkness, not against flesh and blood, NOT against the "why's" and "how's", but we battle to get satan out.

The most successful approach in any case, no matter how complicated, sinful, awful, terrible, disgusting things may be, is to go to the core and reach that individual first. I mean, move all these obstacles aside, don't look at what you think are the problems, for 99% you see are the RESULT of underlying issues, which will be dissolved anyway, once we have brought this soul on the right track. All the symptoms they present us with are but "smoke" that will vaporize and be healed once they have found Jesus as their Savior and Lord, and have completely surrendered to Him.

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creation: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
2 Corinthians 5:17
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make ye free. If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. John 8:32 & 36

Start building up this person's relationship with the Lord, encouraging him to go God's way, using lots of scriptures, to prove that God is interested in his life. Start with the healing process and strengthening the faith of the individual first, not with their sexual sins, sexual abuse, adultery, self-destruction, alcoholism, emotional disorders etc., because one tends to approach these problems on a humanistic level, which may keep one going in circles for the longest time.

Begin feeding the innermost being of this needy person with the word of God and its truth. Bring him to confessing his sins (no matter the cause) and to repentance. Teach the basics of Christianity of acceptance of Jesus Christ as his personal Savior, Lord and Master, his walk in obedience to God's word in water-baptism and infilling of the Holy Spirit. Tell him/her to shun sin, sinful places and any connection which may lead to sin, and not to love this world.

If an individual is suffering of past abuse, provide encouragement and help to put their mind on Christ and not on their past experiences, by pointing at God's word. To overcome the past takes a continuous reminder to live according to God's word and apply His promises. Helpful writings are linked below this writing.

2 Corinthians 5:17... Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Once the candidate has his feet on God's road, solving of the problems may be done by himself, with the helper's assistance. He is in a far better position, now, to clearly see, identify and deal with his sinful life. This process will also reveal very early if the candidate is serious and willing to go God's way, ALL the way.

This godly approach is so effective and fast, that I have seen many believers totally delivered within a few weeks. Several, that I know of, who have been delivered within a short period, are now active workers for God, in prayer and counsel.

I have applied this radical, same approach to hundreds through Internet Counseling Service, and thousands through my website writings. I've learned that satan does not want to reveal himself and tries to keep the individual and helper occupied with all kinds of excuses, impressive names of illnesses, and calling bondage as being a sickness and hereditary. But I know satan's ways and I do not tolerate his filthy lies and his games.

For we are not ignorant of his devices. 2Corinthians 2:11.

To some my approach may sound too cold, but it isn't, for it is the love of Christ which desires to free His people. We are not helping anybody by just pitying them, we have to open the trap in which they are caught. It may hurt them a bit in the beginning, but watch them fly out in God's glorious freedom. HALLELUJAH !

When we bring the Gospel of Good News, according to His word, He will follow up with wonders and miracles, I promise.

I have had the privilege and joy of seeing many freed from bondages, through the power of the Holy Spirit. This radical approach is focused to beat satan and pull him out of his hiding place, to dull his claws and swing the stone exactly between his eyeballs. We have to come in boldness and handle in the authority of Christ.

Just read what Jesus wants us to do in His authority:
Mark 16:15-18 ... And He said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In My name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

The above approaches are for willing people, not for them that don't want Jesus' help. If we are trying to help them that are not ready to accept the Lord's help, our work will be futile. In such a case, don't start anything else, than to pray the prayer of intercession.

If you want to be used in the "Delivery Service" of God, you have to have the wisdom of God and spiritual eyes to battle effectively, not your human knowledge.

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Ephesians 6:11,12

The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.
Romans 13:12

Although secular psychology may have explanations of causes of sexual deviation, substance abuse, child abuse and the like, it cannot correct these by having this knowledge.

Some of these sins are now classified by secular standards as sickness or hereditary, bringing even more hopelessness to them that seek freedom from bondage to sin. Habitual sin can be repented of, but for "chronic illness" and "hereditary", one has to live with. For them that do not have hope in Jesus Christ there is no way out.

The main cause of these bondages is thoughts of sin, brooding upon these thoughts, then the actual giving into sin, eventually sin reinforced by satan, and finally bound by sin. This is as plain as I can say it.

Acting upon God's word, as His followers and witnesses, will have a tremendous impact on many, with the results that scores of people may receive deliverance from sexual sins, substance abuse, personality and emotional disorders, other addictions, bad habits and past abuse.

In conclusion: the more radical we are in our approach the better for both, avoiding waste of precious time and energy. People who come out of any addiction to sin or damages of past abusive situations, do it through the transforming power of Jesus, not by anything we do.

I am greatly encouraging you, as the reader, to make yourself available for the work of the Lord, reaching out to them around you and be His hand extended in this world of pain and despair. I am so glad that at one time in my life, just an ordinary believer in Christ Jesus, reached out and touched my life for ever.
