Biblical Foundation

Building your "home"

An unfinished building

But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of person ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness. 2 Peter 3: 10-11
How then shall we build, since we have accepted Jesus Christ as our Savior?
You may know the Lord for many years and you may know the scriptures by heart, you've heard it all. This does not mean that you can sit back and doze off , assuming that when Jesus returns He will pick you up.

The scriptures teach that the more we know, the more will be required of us. The responsibility increases with the knowledge we possess.

Not hearers, but doers of the Word.

Noah knew the word of the Lord, he received the measurements, he did have the tools, and he did not sit back. The instructions of the Lord put him to work. If Noah would not have worked or taken responsibility, he and his family would have perished also.

Paul says in Philippians 2:12 Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

Matth. 24:38... For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark.

Noah had to build the ark first, in the same manner we have to build our faith in Jesus Christ
He received the blueprint in Genesis 6:14-16- one door at the side and one window towards heaven. Starting at Genesis 8:6.

Noah didn't make an extra window to watch the world go by or just to peak into sinners' life-styles. He stuck with God's instructions, that is why he and his family were saved through the flood. I hope and pray that this all sinks in.

Noah's faith was tested for 120 years, people mocked him, but he used his tools and kept on building according to the blueprint, which saved him in the end. We also have the blueprint in the scriptures and the tools as recommended in GOD'S WORD. We've got His road map.

Ephesians 6: 11- 16
  • 11. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
  • 12. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
  • 13. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. And you think you can lay down or relax, now you have accepted Jesus?
  • 14. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness,
  • 15. having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace.
  • 16. above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.
Perhaps you think: "But that shield is too heavy or the breastplate is not necessary."
The Scripture says
PUT ON,.... not BUTS.

We have to learn to obey His word, we have to go by HIS blueprint.

Romans 12: 1,2... Ours is the daily sacrifice of the sinful self on the cross of Christ. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

I don't like to point you to God's promises if your foundation is not laid. First, you have to become obedient to His Word in water baptism by immersion as a confession that you are now buried with Him and risen in a new life, as in Matthew 28:18-20. NOT an infant sprinkling.

Secondly, seek the infilling of the Holy Spirit with the Gifts, including the utterance of speaking in tongues for self edification, read 1 Corinthians 14:1-5.

If your foundation is not laid, you cannot start building and the promises of the Lord cannot be fulfilled. I am not saying that you have to be perfect, but at least start with obedience and He will work on perfecting you. AMEN!

Be ye filled with the Holy Spirit, this resembles a heavy main beam in Noah's ark. This is your main Strength.

Timothy 4:7...Train yourself in godliness. This means, make EFFORT to do His will.

1 Corinthians 3:10... Let each one take heed how he builds on it. The foundation which is Jesus Christ.

Here we conclude that to be saved is not the end, it is the beginning, and the means to start building on the Rock, Jesus Christ.

Colossians 2:6-7... As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.

To establish means to make firm or stable, to bring about. It is ACTIVE, not passive. It does not come by itself, it demands effort on our part.

Colossians 3:1-2... If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.

Are you changing the blueprint? Are you more tolerant than you should? Are you adding two or more feet to the rafters or putting an extra window in the side, so you can view the world better and perhaps get involved?
Are you taking too many animals in your ark, taking the risk of capsizing when the flood comes?

Are you building on Christ or do you give in to the human part in you, I mean the "old flesh"? You cannot say: "Oh, we are just human", and using this as an excuse for sinful behavior. The believer in Jesus Christ ought to keep the flesh crucified.

Jesus said to the fisherman and tax collector :
"FOLLOW ME." This means; crucifying the old sinful will, walking in His footsteps, obeying His commands, abiding in Him. Just plain like that.

Galatians 2:20... If we live our lives by the faith of the Son of God in us, then we are a new creation.

Do you allow yourself to be conformed to this world by watching TV programs of terror, adultery, hate and bloodshed; participating in worldly activities; hanging around with worldly friends?

If you want the Victory; the full benefit of the Scripture; His promises, then you have to stick to the rules of "God's Word".

Abide in Him, just as you have to abide with the rules of any membership. If the Bible states, "Abide in Him and He will abide in you, and obey Him and He will bless you", you have to take action and do what The Lord is telling you to do. Right? If you don't do your part, the Lord cannot fulfill His part, because you become a blockage for His blessings to flow.

The Lord gave me a vision one time, while resting in bed. I was standing in the foyer of a local church. When I entered the auditorium my eyes were immediately drawn to the walls and to my astonishment I saw huge murals painted on them. The murals depicted scenes of adulterous life-styles from the TV Soap Operas and the such. My mouth fell wide open and I hardly could believe my eyes. Others walked in and also noticed the murals and they whispered : "Take these off of the walls, they don't belong in God's House. Take them off, this is a shame !"
I said to the Lord: "What do You want me to do, Lord? What is this all about?"

The Lord said to me: "Turn around and preach to these people that what they see on these walls is that which lives in their hearts. This building is NOT My House, their hearts should be My house. What I see are these pictures in their hearts. The murals will not be removed until they have cleaned up their hearts and lives." Thus spoke the Lord.

1 Peter 2:9-10... But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him Who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. Who once were not a people but are now the people of God. Who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.

*This is the time you better stand firm and know His voice in your life.
*This is the time you better carefully listen for Godly direction and guidance.
*This is the time to focus your eyes completely upon the Lord, because many deceiving spirits will try to get your attention.
*This is the time to enter into the ark you've been building for yourself, and it better be one according to His specifications, or you'll also perish.

2 Chronicles 7:14... If my people who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

Let us not take His mercy for granted. Let us consider the tremendous price paid on the cross by Jesus Christ. Let us be worthy of His mercy and build on a solid foundation. If we don't build on the Ark, we will perish.

Jesus is coming for a Bride, without spot or wrinkle, not for people who are filling the pews.

REMEMBER, If we are following in Jesus' footsteps now, we shall also follow Him at the time of the Resurrection.

Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. Matthew 7:14
